Free SaaS directories that are worth your time (2026)
Updated 2026-10-30 · 7 min read
There are hundreds of free SaaS directories, and most send almost no visitors. This is a shorter, honest list: 35 places to list a new SaaS for free, grouped by type, with what each one gives you. We checked every site in October 2026 to confirm it is still live and still takes free submissions. Where we could not confirm something, we say so.
A note on links. "Dofollow" means a search engine is allowed to count the link. We only mark a link as dofollow or nofollow if the site states it, or if we saw it in a live listing's HTML. Otherwise it says "unknown". Link status can change at any time.
What to expect in 2026
Four patterns came up again and again:
- Free listings rarely include a dofollow link. On most launch platforms, the dofollow link is what they sell. Free listings get one only if you finish in the top 3, pass an upvote score, or show their badge.
- Many free tiers require a link back to them first. Google's spam policies treat links exchanged as a condition of a deal as a possible link scheme. Weigh that before you add badges to every page.
- Free queues can be long. Some sites state queues of 30 days to 60 weeks.
- Visitors come from communities, not directories. A good post in the right community usually sends more real users than ten directory listings.
Pick five to ten that match your audience. Do them well.
Launch platforms
These feature new products on a daily or weekly board, usually ranked by votes.
| Site | Free option | Paid option | Links | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Product Hunt | Free launch | Ads only | Unknown | Still the largest. Worth one well-prepared launch. |
| Peerlist Launchpad | Weekly launches; needs a verified profile. Free, per third parties | Not confirmed | Backlink for top 5 of the week | Good for developer tools. |
| Uneed | Join the free line; stays published at an upvote score of 10 | Fast-track $14.99, skip the line $39.99 | Dofollow at a score of 20 on free | Active audience. The free line has no stated wait. |
| DevHunt | Free permanent listing, no launch week | Launch $19 | Free: nofollow. Paid: dofollow | Worth $19 only for developer tools. |
| Microlaunch | Free tier not confirmed | From $39 | Paid: dofollow (stated) | Check the free option yourself. |
| Fazier | Reportedly free with a badge, about 30 days (not verified) | Premium $49 | Paid: dofollow (stated) | Fine if the free route is still open. |
| TinyLaunch | Standard launch queue | Premium $39 | Dofollow for top 3 with their badge | Small, maker-heavy audience. |
| Firsto | 5 free slots a day | From $19.90 | Dofollow for top 3 with badge | Free wait is stated as about 180 days. |
| OpenHunts | 20 free slots a week, or skip with their badge | From $9.90 | Dofollow for top 3 | Free wait is stated as about 60 weeks. Heavy sponsored links. |
| StartupBase | Free with their badge | From $39 | Paid: dofollow | Free wait about 4–5 weeks. |
| Pitchwall (formerly Betapage) | Free listing | Featured listing | Free: nofollow. Featured: dofollow | Low effort, low return. |
Directories
These keep a permanent listing, often grouped by category or by the well-known tool you replace.
| Site | Free option | Paid option | Links | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SaaSHub | Free; you list similar products | Featured listing | Dofollow on one sampled listing | One of the most useful. Rejects unreleased products. |
| AlternativeTo | Free listing (not verified; site blocked our checks) | — | Unknown | Real search traffic for "X alternative" queries. Worth doing. |
| Launching Next | Free, reviewed daily | $99 for faster review | Nofollow (observed) | Quick, but expect few visitors. |
| OpenAlternative | Free queue, open-source only | From $97 | Free and Standard: nofollow (stated) | Excellent if your app is open source. |
| Twelve Tools | Free if you link back | $36 one-time | Free: 1 dofollow (stated) | Fast review, stated as 72 hours. |
| ToolFame | Free with a permanent badge | From $19.90 | Free: 1 dofollow (stated) | Review up to 180 days. Sells "DR increase" packages. Skip. |
| Dang.ai | Free if you link to them (AI tools) | From $49 | Unknown | Only for AI tools. Up to 4 weeks. |
| Launch Llama | Free newsletter feature with their badge | Paid ads | Unknown | Small newsletter. Fine as a bonus. |
| SideProjectors | Free showcase | — | Nofollow (observed) | Mostly a marketplace for selling projects. |
| GitHub awesome lists | Free via pull request | — | Nofollow (observed) | Good for open-source and developer tools. Follow each list's rules. |
| One Dollar SaaS (our site) | Free for apps that start at $5 a month or less | None | Dofollow for approved apps | Only for cheap apps. Every listing is checked by a person. |
Communities
These send the most real users, and punish obvious self-promotion. Read each one's rules first.
| Community | How to post | Links | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Show HN | Something people can try now, ideally without sign-up | Nofollow (observed) | High traffic if it lands. Write plainly and answer every comment. |
| r/SideProject | Project posts | Unknown | Friendly to new makers. |
| r/SaaS | Check current self-promotion rules | Unknown | Better for lessons learned than launches. |
| r/microsaas | Check current rules | Unknown | Small, relevant audience. |
| r/alphaandbetausers | Ask for testers | Unknown | Good for early feedback, not customers. |
| Indie Hackers | Product page and posts (not verified) | Unknown | Share numbers and lessons, not ads. |
| Lobsters | Invite-only; no self-promotion for new users for 70 days | Unknown | Only if you are already a member. |
| DEV | Write a technical post about how you built it | Unknown for new accounts | Good for developer tools. |
| Niche forums and Discords | Wherever your users already talk | Varies | Often the best source of first customers. |
Profiles and review sites
These rarely send launch traffic, but they rank for your product name and for comparison searches later.
| Site | Free option | Links | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| G2 | Free basic profile (not verified) | Unknown | Free profiles are losing some features. Claim it once you have users. |
| Capterra | Free basic listing (not verified) | Unknown | One source says free profiles have no website link. Low priority. |
| Crunchbase | Free profile for registered users | Unknown | Five minutes. Useful as a reference page. |
| Starter Story | Free interview submission | Unknown | Worth it once you have a story and real numbers. |
| SourceForge | Free listing (not verified) | Unknown | Large, but low intent for new SaaS. |
Skip, or pay-only
- BetaList: now paid-only. Its own documentation says you pick a plan and pay before review.
- Futurepedia: the free submit page returns an error. Third-party sources say listing costs $497.
- There's An AI For That and Toolify: third-party sources say listing is paid. We could not check their pages.
- Insanely Cool Tools: the domain is parked.
- Bulk "submit to 100 directories" services: several launch platforms sell these. Most of those directories send no visitors, and a sudden burst of low-quality links does not help a new domain.
A simple plan
- Week 1: SaaSHub, AlternativeTo, Crunchbase, and one free launch platform that fits your audience.
- Launch day: Product Hunt or Show HN, not both on the same day. Be there to answer every comment.
- Weeks 2–4: one honest post in one or two communities, sharing what you built and what you learned.
- Ongoing: a profile on G2 or Capterra once you have reviews to ask for.
Before you submit anywhere, make sure the app is ready. The launch checklist for a vibe-coded app covers security, pricing and legal pages. If you charge very little, read How to price a SaaS at $1–5 a month first.
What could not be verified
Several sites blocked our automated checks in October 2026: AlternativeTo, G2, Capterra, SourceForge, Indie Hackers, There's An AI For That, Toolify and StackShare. Peerlist's and Fazier's free terms come from their help pages and third-party sources. Reddit rules change often. Check each community's sidebar before you post.
List your app
If your app costs $5 a month or less to start, you can list it on One Dollar SaaS for free.
